Jacob Billig Honored for Distinguished Service by the Sullivan County Partnership for Economic Development

Jacob R. Billig honored with the Sullivan County Partnership’s Distinguished Service Award

Jacob R. Billig, a partner at Billig, Loughlin & Silver, was honored with the Sullivan County Partnership’s Distinguished Service Award during its 22nd Annual Meeting & Celebration on October 6.

The Distinguished Service Award, selected in-house by staff, recog- nizes an individual or individuals who provide extraordinary service to the Partnership in a given year.

“Jacob is well deserving,” said Marc Baez, President, Sullivan County Partnership for Economic Development. “Each chairperson learns from each other, brings something different, yet this year Jacob gave a little bit more.”

Improving organizational process tops the list of Billig’s recent contribu- tions. Billig’s leadership evolving “procedures by which we do things, how we conduct our operational business will have a lasting impact on the Partnership going forward,” Baez said.

For more than two decades one of Billig’s primary areas of practice has been securing local and state approvals for commercial and residential developers in the Hudson Valley including Walmart, Rubin Schron, Cammeby’s International, ltd., and Resnick Supermarket Equipment Corp. He also resolves claims across the country in arbitration matters for a national nursing home company. In addition, Jacob is also a principal at the Law Office of M.L. Zager, PC, the largest law firm in the Hudson Valley solely specializing in accounts receivable management and collection work. The firm has a vast array of health care institutions, banks and corporations as clients.

Early in his career Jacob served as lead trial counsel in the firm of Dubois, Billig, Loughlin, Conaty, & Weisman, a 40 member firm specializing in insurance defense work where he was responsible for litigation work in the firm’s most complex medical and dental malpractice cases in New York State.

Jacob current serves as the attorney for the Town of Liberty Planning Board and former attorney for the Town of Fallsburg and Village of Monticello
A past member of the Monticello School Board for eight years and President of the Monticello Basketball Booster Club, he is currently a member of the Bashakill Area Association and the 3500 Club.

Jacob and his wife Karen reside in Glen Wild. They have two children, Emily and Austin both of whom are graduates of Monticello High School.
